About Famous Muslims

Famous Muslims is part of the Muslims Around the World network, a family of Islamic websites. Each one does one job and tries to do it well.

Why we made Famous Muslims

Smaller, careful, sourced. Lists of famous Muslims online often mix legend with fact, include living celebrities, or repeat claims nobody can source. We wanted a careful collection: people of history, plain facts in our own words, and a link for anyone who wants to read more.

A small amount goes a long way: give sadaqah and follow it to the people it reaches. Some charities say every pound reaches the cause: see what a 100% donation policy means.

How we write the lives

What the record supports, and no more. We keep to what standard references agree on, mark uncertain dates with “c.” (about), and avoid praise or blame beyond what the record supports. Corrections are welcome through muslimsaroundtheworld.org.

Where everything comes from

The biographies
Written by Muslims Around the World in our own words, kept to facts that standard reference works agree on: dates, places, books and achievements. Where the record is uncertain we say “about”, “reported” or “historians debate”. Each page links to an encyclopaedia article for further reading.
Who is included
People of the past only, from many centuries, places and fields: scholars, scientists and physicians, travellers and map-makers, leaders and builders. Being listed isn’t an endorsement of everything a person did or wrote.

Who runs it

Famous Muslims is made by Muslims Around the World. It is free, has no third-party adverts and needs no account. Every site in the family is listed on the Muslims Around the World sites page. Before any page here is published, an automatic review checks every verse and dua against its source letter for letter, and makes sure each statement about what Islam teaches carries its reference. If you spot a mistake, please tell us through muslimsaroundtheworld.org.

Muslims Around the World is protecting the legacy of Ali Banat, may Allah have mercy on him, and every site in the family is part of that work. Read his story.

You can learn more with us at muslimsaroundtheworld.org: short reminders from scholars, duas with their meaning, Quran recitations and prayer times.
